Salt Trucks Will Be Out In Full Force In Elmhurst
Salt trucks will be out once rain subsides and before cold temperatures hit.

ELMHURST, IL — Elmhurst salt trucks will be out in full force on Thursday evening. Freezing rain is forecast, and a severe drop in temperatures will occur over just a few hours. According to the city, residents should avoid traveling this evening due to varying roadway conditions.
Plummeting temperatures could possibly cause flash freezing of the already wet pavement surfaces. The city said crews will begin salting operations as soon as the expected rain stops and before cold temperatures reach the area.
Main roadways will be treated first, followed by local roadways. The city will be conducting a full salting operation this evening to maintain safe roadway conditions.
