Tap Duet Dances Their Way to New York City

Kendall Vorel of Elmhurst and Alyssa McMillan of Lombard recently attended the All Star Dancers National Conventionin New York City. They were selected to participate in the convention when they performed a tap routine at the Kids Artistic Revue Regional Competition. The award-winning dance performance titled "Do You Believe in Magic?" was choreographed by owner/director Penny Bovelli of The Dance Centre. Kendall and Alyssa are both students at The Dance Centre dance studio in Lombard. 

The five-day convention included a dance workshop and a "mock audition" taught by the world famous Radio City Rockettes at Radio City Music Hall. Kendall and Alyssa also attended classes at New York's Premier Dance Studio, The Broadway Dance Center and Workshops with Broadway performers.  In addition, they attended two Broadway musicals ("Wicked" and "Matilda") and toured New York City.

The convention is coordinated by Artistic Adventures of California. Kendall is 12 years old and a seventh-grade student at Bryan Middle School and the daughter of Mark and Patti Vorel of Elmhurst. Alyssa is 13 years old and a eighth-grade student at St. John's Lutheran School of Lombard and the daughter of Paul McMillan and Dr. Shari Jurgensen of Lombard.
