Tornado Watch Issued In Elmhurst: Thunderstorms Likely
CORRECTION: A tornado watch has been issued in Elmhurst, not a warning. We apologize for the error.
ELMHURST, IL — Batten down the hatches: a tornado watch has been issued for northern Illinois and northwest Indiana, according to the National Weather Service. The watch lasts until 9 p.m. Monday.
All of DuPage County is included in the watch, as are McHenry, Lake, DeKalb, Kane, Cook, LaSalle, Kendall, Grundy, Will, and Kankakee counties in Illinois, and additional counties in northwest Indiana.
The National Weather Service said that isolated tornadoes are possible as several thunderstorms develop Monday afternoon, bringing gusts of up to 70 miles an hour, and hail in some locations.

There is a 100% chance of heavy rain Monday night in Elmhurst, with up to two inches of rain are possible, according to weather.com. Gusts of up to 15 miles per hour are possible, as are severe thunderstorms.
Showers/storms are expanding in coverage this afternoon. There have been indications of mini-supercell structures at times which could result in funnels/brief tornadoes. Tuesday is set to be calmer, with clouds clearing up to sun later in the day. However, more thunderstorms are possible starting Wednesday afternoon, and rain is predicted for the rest of the week.
