Underage Driver and Passenger Changed Seats During Traffic Stop: Police

They were each issued citations and released.

ELMHURST, IL — An Elmhurst officer conducting a traffic stop watched as the driver and a passenger tried to swap seats.

The car was stopped around 8:22 p.m. July 27 at York and Van Buren for failing to singal and failing to yield while turning left, according to Elmhurst police.

The driver was 16 years old and didn't have a driver's license, and the passenger who moved into the driver's seat acknowledged he'd had alcohol and smoked cannabis, police reported.

The driver was issued a citation for not having a valid driver's license, and the passenger was issued a citation for underage drinking.
