United Jet Slides to End of Runway at O'Hare

The inbound flight from Seattle skidded past the turn to its gate and to the end of a runway Wednesday morning.

A United Airlines jet from Seattle, Flight 1977, slid past the turn to its gate and down the runway at O’Hare International Airport earlier this morning, just before 8 a.m. as heavy snow fell across the area. The Boeing 737 slid to the end of the pavement. No one was injured. NBC Chicago reports the plane was towed back to the gate and 164 passengers were deplaned by 9:30 a.m.

For a while, that part of the runway was reportedly too icy to move the plane.
