Varsity Girls' Tennis Results: York 7th Out of 32 Teams at Lockport Invite

Below are the results from the 32-team Lockport Invite on Oct. 2 and 3.

York went 3-2 in dual matches to finish in 7th place out of 32 teams at the Lockport Team Tournament.

York now has a dual record of 16 wins and 13 losses. The 16 wins matches its win total from the past 5 seasons. York will have 2 opportunities to improve their record this season as they take on Benet Academy on Monday, 10/5 and Fenwick on Thursday, 10/8.

Abby Brigman and Alex Hennessy went 4-1 on the weekend. They are striking the ball well and playing very aggressive doubles. In their match vs. Nequa Valley, they were down 9-7 in the Super Tie-breaker (played up to 10). They fought off two match points against them and ended up winning the match 12-10 in the 3rd set match tie-break. The pair is now 16-11 together at the tough #1 doubles spot. In the 7th Place match, it came down to the #3 doubles spot of Jacki Riek and Liz Mazzocco. They won the first set 7-5 and dropped the 2nd set 6-2. They fell in a 3-0 hole but worked out of it and came up with some big shots and big serves to close out the match and clinch the dual meet for the Dukes.
