When Is the Deadline for Voter Registration for the 2016 Illinois Primary?

Will you be able to vote in the March 15 general primary election?

The final day of standard voter registration is Feb. 16, according to the Illinois State Board of Elections.

Illinois residents, here are your voting registration options:

• Register online. Online registration requires an Illinois state ID or driver’s license number
• In person at the office of the election authority
• At driver’s license facilities
• With deputy registrars who are appointed in each jurisdiction
• By mail using the Illinois Voter Registration Application, which is available in English and Spanish

Illinois residents can register to vote if they are 18 years or older on Nov. 8, 2016, which is the general election day.

Any Illinois citizens who live overseas or serve as military personnel can register to vote using a Federal postcard application found on the Federal Voting Assistance Program website. See the Military and Overseas Voter Guidelines for more information.

If you miss the deadline to register or change your registration, you can still register under grace period registration at the office of the election authority.
