OAK BROOK, IL – A woman being arrested in an Oak Brook retail theft case Friday punched an officer in the chest and bit him in the right bicep, police said.

Shavaughn Johnson, 18, of Chicago, was charged with aggravated battery to a police officer. She and 18-year-old D'Errika Thrasher of Chicago, 22-year-old Alanah Booker of Naperville and a 16-year-old girl were all charged with felony retail theft and burglary.

About 8:30 p.m., they stole clothing, fragrances and Mark Jacobs gift boxes and left the store, police said. The items were valued at more than $300.

Earlier in the evening, Darnella Williams, 19, of Maywood, was arrested on charges of felony retail theft and burglary.

Police said she stole $716 worth of merchandise, including clothing and cosmetics, concealing the items under a blanket draped over a car seat.

"These incidents demonstrate the offenders' blatant disregard for the law. I find it disgusting that after allegedly burglarizing a retailer and attempting to flee from the police, an offender bit and battered a police officer," Oak Brook Police Chief Brian Strockis said in the news release. "Despite the offenders' brazen efforts to evade arrest, they failed as they do every time."
