Working On the House? Habitat for Humanity's ReStore Might Just Have What You Need

The DuPage Habitat for Humanity ReStore in Addison will have special promotions July 27 in honor of the store's anniversary.

If you are planning some home updates or have a project underway, the DuPage Habitat for Humanity ReStore has items to help you finish the job.

This weekend is the perfect time to visit the store if you haven't yet. Celebrating two years in business, the ReStore, in Addison, will have special sales and promotions on July 27.

Over the last two years, the store has helped raise enough money on its own to construct a home, according to DuPage Habitat for Humanity.

The first 50 customers who make a purchase  on July 27 will receive a free recyclable bag, and everything in the store will be 20 percent off the already discounted prices. In addition, there will be surprise discounts and deals throughout the day, according to the nonprofit.

“We wanted to thank all the customers who have helped make our first two years so successful” ReStore Manager Jim Fessler said in a news release. “So we’re planning a day of giveaways, extra discounts, surprises, even balloons for the kids. It’s going to be a lot of fun.”

Not only has the store helped raise funds to build a home, it has also helped divert 420 tons of usable materials from ending up in garbage dump, according to the news release.

The profits from the store help support Habitat Humanity’s mission of building affordable homes in the community. The nonprofit works in partnership with people in need to build modest and affordable housing by constructing and renovating houses using donated materials and volunteer labor.

“It’s a classic win-win situation,” Fessler said. “You help yourself by shopping here and help others at the same time. It’s a great deal. And our anniversary celebration on Saturday will make it better than ever.”
