2 Evanston Pastors Arrested At Broadview ICE Protest: Report
Two Evanston pastors face misdemeanor charges after they were arrested outside the Broadview ICE facility on Nov. 14.
EVANSTON, IL — two pastors from Evanston churches were among 21 people arrested at a protest outside the U.S. Immigrations and Customs Enforcement processing facility in Broadview on Nov. 14, according to a report from the Chicago Tribune.
Rev. Michael Woolf, from Lake Street Church of Evanston, and rev Luke Harris-Feree, from Grace Lutheran Church, were both charged with obstruction, disorderly conduct and for walking on a highway, according to the Cook County Sheriff's Office. Woolf told the Tribune he was beaten, bruised and had his hands tied with zip ties so tightly they went numb.
Both men will face three misdemeanor charges at a Dec. 3 court date.

According to the sheriff's office, on the day of the protest approximately 50 protestors left a designated area and assembled on a blocked-off road. Officers followed the protestors, attempting to get them to return to designated protest areas.
In the skirmish, two Village of Broadview police officers, one Illinois State Police officer and a Cook County Sheriff's deputy were injured by "out-of-town" protestors, according to Broadview Mayor Katrina Thompson.
