Evanston property owners concerned about their property taxes can submit an appeal.
Evanston property owners concerned about their property taxes can submit an appeal to the Cook County Board of Review (BOR) through November 12, 2020. This is the last opportunity for Evanston residents to appeal their assessments in 2020.
Property owners may file an appeal on their own online at cookcountyboardofreview.com. Filing online is a simple and quick process that should take no more than 20 minutes. Those who wish to see a list of available comparable properties should email Mitzi Gibbs at mgibbs@cityofevanston.org.

Property owners seeking assistance filing an appeal should email Mitzi Gibbs at mgibbs@cityofevanston.org or visit cityofevanston.org/onlineappeal to complete and electronically sign an appeal authorization form to have their appeal filed on their behalf.
It is highly recommended that property owners file their appeals online or complete an electronic appeal authorization form in lieu of in-person visits. Those seeking in-person assistance may visit the Gibbs-Morrison Community Center, 1823 Church St., on Mondays, Tuesdays and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. through November 10.

As a reminder, Cook County tax bills always arrive one year late. Property owners should note that the money-saving effects of successful 2020 appeals will not appear on tax bills until the summer of 2021.
