80 Cited, 3 Arrested During Thanksgiving Traffic Safety Campaign In Evanston

During the Thanksgiving enforcement period, three people were arrested, and 80 were cited for various traffic violations.

EVANSTON, IL — The Evanston Police Department cited 80 people during the recent Thanksgiving traffic safety campaign period that lasted from Nov. 21 to Dec. 2

During the time period, police arrested three people for traffic violations and issued 23 speeding citations.

“These results reflect our commitment to a safe community,” said Traffic Sergeant Gil Levy. “Impaired is impaired, whether you use alcohol, cannabis or other drugs. Combine that with not wearing a seat belt, and the consequences can be deadly. Please buckle up and plan a sober ride every time.”

Additionally, police issued citations for the following:

  • 12 occupant restraint citations
  • 14 electronic device use citations
  • 9 no insurance citations
  • 22 other traffic citations.

Evanston police joined forces with other state and local law enforcement agencies that participated in the “Drive Sober or Get Pulled Over,” “It's Not a Game” and “Click It or Ticket” campaigns. The campaigns are funded with federal highway safety funds administered by the Illinois Department of Transportation.
