62-Year-Old Bicyclist Hospitalized After Being Run Over By Car: Evanston Police
Evanston police responded to a crash between a car and a 62-year-old man on a bike Tuesday afternoon.
EVANSTON, IL — A 62-year-old bicyclist was hospitalized in unknown condition after being run over by a car in Evanston on Tuesday afternoon.
The incident took place on Dempster Street just east of Oak Avenue before 3:50 p.m., authorities said. According to Commander Ryan Glew, the man was riding his bike near the mouth of an alley when the driver of the vehicle ran him over with the car's tires.
Officers who responded to the incident said there were tire tracks across the bicyclist's legs and buttocks. The bicyclist was conscious when police arrived and was transported by a nearby hospital in unknown condition.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene and cooperated with the investigation, Glew told Patch.
Traffic was closed on Dempster Street between Oak and Ridge Avenues while police investigated.
