Northwestern Among Top 30 Most Beautiful Campuses In U.S.

EVANSTON, IL — Northwestern University is among the top 30 most beautiful campuses in the U.S., according to a ranking from magazine Travel + Leisure.

Beautiful campuses do more than just attract prospective students; they also attract tourists who admire the grounds, architecture and landmarks.

At Northwestern, the university's Gothic-inspired buildings set it apart, the magazine said. Ranking at 29 on the list, the magazine said the leafy campus's beauty is complemented by the neighboring Lake Michigan and its sandy beaches.

Travel + Leisure specifically spotlighted the Deering Library, which was modeled after King's College Chapel in Cambridge. The Alice Millar Chapel, built in the early 1960s, also caught the magazine's attention with its towering stained glass windows.

One other Illinois campus also made the list. The University of Chicago in Hyde Park ranked21st on the magazine's list.
