The Christmas in July benefit concert for Santa for a Day, a Chicago-based nonprofit, will be held Thursday, July 10, at SPACE in Evanston, featuring Evanston-born Jason Narducy, a local legend, as the headliner. Other performers include local bands Neptune’s Core and Chaepter, as well as rising indie rock star Niko Kapetan, who will perform in between sets.
Tickets for Christmas in July are still available at www.evanstonspace.com. Doors open at 7 p.m., and the first band takes the stage around 8.
Kapetan, an Evanston native whose band Friko is exploding on the national scene, has joined Santa for a Day as musical ambassador and has curated the top emerging Chicago-area talent for the one-night-only Christmas in July show. Local music legend and WXRT-FM host Marty Lennartz, who is emcee, has called the event “a hometown indie rock extravaganza—for a great cause.”

The annual event raises funds to support Evanston-based Santa for a Day, which has a mission of delivering holiday gifts to children in underserved communities in Chicago, Evanston and six other cities. The gifts are specifically requested in heartfelt, shoppable letters to Santa. This year, founder Rich Gentile partnered with Kapetan, “a homegrown talent who is exploding on the national scene,” to bring incredible local talent to the stage and take Christmas in July to a new level.
