City Reminders: Early Voting And Election Day Voting
The Cook County Clerk's Office is encouraging all voters to cast their ballot prior to Election Day this year by voting early.
Early Voting
Early voting for the November 3 Presidential Election will take place Monday, October 19 through Monday, November 2 at the Morton Civic Center, Room G-300 (Ground Floor), 2100 Ridge Ave., in Evanston.

Due to COVID-19, the City will be taking extra safety precautions within the Morton Civic Center. High contact surfaces will be cleaned frequently and sanitizer will be made available. Face coverings must be worn by voters while in line and within the building at all times. Voters are also encouraged to wash their hands or use hand sanitizer before and after entering the building and to practice social distancing by remaining six feet away from others.
The Cook County Clerk's Office is encouraging all voters to cast their ballot prior to Election Day this year by taking part in early voting or voting by mail. Registered Cook County voters can request a mail-in ballot online at cookcountyclerk.com/votebymail through October 29, 2020. Completed ballots should be returned by mail to the Cook County Clerk’s Office or dropped off at one of 50 secure drop boxes throughout Cook County, including one located on the ground floor of the Morton Civic Center during Early Voting hours.

Early Voting hours at the Morton Civic Center are as follows:
Monday through Friday
October 19-23, 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
October 26-30, 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
November 2, 8:30 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Saturday
October 24 and 31, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Sunday
October 25 and November 1, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Election Day Voting
On Election Day, Tuesday, November 3, from 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., residents should go to their registered polling location to vote.
A government-issued photo ID is not required to early vote, but is helpful if there is a question about the voter's registration, address or signature.
Residents who are not registered to vote may register and cast a ballot on Election Day. Two qualifying forms of ID must be presented. To register, voters must be:
- A U.S. citizen
- At least 18 years old by the election
- A resident of their precinct at least 30 days prior to Election Day
Any voter registering for the first time or filing an address change or name change must present two forms of ID, one of which shows the voter's current address.
- Illinois driver's license
- Illinois state ID
- Employee or student ID
- Credit card
- Social security card
- Birth certificate
- Utility bill in applicant's name
- Mail postmarked to the applicant
- Valid U.S. passport
- Public aid ID card
- Lease or rental contract
