Evanston Swimming Beaches Closed Friday For Lifeguard Training
A large presence of emergency vehicles is expected as the Evanston Fire Department conducts large-scale training exercises.

EVANSTON, IL — All swimming areas in Evanston are closed to the public through 4 p.m. Friday as the Evanston Fire Department conducts large-scale lifeguard training, city staff said.
The training exercises began at several beaches and swimming areas at noon, and community members were advised to expect a "significant presence of emergency personnel."
Members of the public were asked to give emergency personnel the space needed to conduct the training. Anyone with questions about the training was encouraged

This summer marks the first year since the Evanston lifeguard program was moved to the purview Fire Department from the city's Parks, Recreation and Community Services Department.
