Naked 'Peeping Tom' Grabbed Victim's Buttocks In Evanston, Police Say

Police asked the community for help in catching a man involved in a battery and a series of late-night disorderly conduct incidents.

EVANSTON, IL — Police suspect the same man is responsible for a series of indecent incidents in Evanston.

On June 18, a resident in the 900 block of Hamlin Street told police they spotted a nude man peering into the back windows of their home around 11 p.m. for the second time in two weeks.

Another report of a naked man looking into a home was reported on June 22 at 10:40 p.m. in the 2000 block of Pratt Court, police said.

Around the same time, in the same block, a nude offender also reportedly committed a battery, grabbing a person's buttocks before the victim fled.

Police described the suspected peeping Tom as about 5 feet, 10 inches tall, in his mid-30s and possibly Hispanic with brown hair, a medium complexion and a medium build.

Evanston police released several safety tips to help protect themselves from similar situations, advising that residents make sure all their windows and doors are locked and encouraging them to close their blinds or curtains to prevent potential offenders from looking inside.

Police also stressed the importance of immediately reporting suspicious activity and remaining vigilant and aware of your surroundings, suggesting residents communicate with neighbors about any unusual activities.

Under Illinois law, going onto private property and peeping into someone's windows is a form of disorderly conduct. Being naked rises to the crime of public indecency when it is for the purposes of arousal or sexual desires.
