No Injuries, Resident Displaced By Late-Night Evanston Fire

Firefighters contained the fire within 30 minutes, limiting the damage beyond the home's living room and chimney, authorities said.

EVANSTON, IL — A late-night fire in central Evanston displaced one resident but caused no injuries, officials said.

Firefighters arrived at in the 1000 block of Greenleaf Street around 10:30 p.m. to find smoke coming from a single-family home, according to Evanston fire officials.

Crews quickly called for backup to make sure they had enough help to tackle the blaze.

Thanks to the swift and coordinated efforts of firefighters, the blaze was contained to the living room and chimney within 30 minutes, significantly reducing structural damage to the home, according to an Evanston Fire Department spokesperson.

One person who lived at the house had to find another place to stay, but no one was hurt.
