Owner Leaves Keys in Vehicle, Thief Steals Car

The following information was reported by Evanston Police on Tuesday, Sept. 10, 2013. Where arrests are included, it does not indicate a conviction.

The following arrests and incidents were reported by the Evanston Police Department:

Keys Left in Vehicle, Thief Steals Car

After the owner left the keys in the car, someone stole a blue 2003 Honda Pilot from  the 1000 block of Monroe Street between 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, and 8:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, according to police.

Burglaries Reported on Central, Darrow

Someone pried open the door of a condo in the 1700 block of Central Street and stole an HP desktop computer and Apple desktop computer between 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, and 11:23 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, according to police.

A burglar broke the rear door of a home in the 2100 block of Darrow Avenue and stole water piping between 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, and 8 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, police reported.

Car Burglaries on Custer, Mulford

Someone entered an unlocked 2005 Jeep parked in the 200 block of Custer and stole a beige wallet with its contents between 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 6, and 12 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, according to police.

Someone entered an unlocked 1993 Subaru parked in the 1300 block of Mulford Street and stole a Nuvi GPS between 9 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, and 7 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, police reported.

Someone stole a Sansa mp3 player with earphones from a 1999 Ford parked in a driveway in the 1300 block of Mulford Street between 8 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, and 8:30 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, according to police.

Thief Takes Prescription Painkillers From Car

Someone took hydrocodone pills, a prescription painkiller, from a car while the door was open in the 2100 block of Green Bay Road at 10:27 a.m. Monday, Sept. 9, police reported.

Man Steals Alcohol From Grocery Store

A man stole alcohol from a grocery store in the 1100 block of Chicago Avenue at 11:07 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, police reported.

Arrests: Retail Theft, Violating Order of Protection

Matthew Vincent Gianakopoulos, 25, of the 7200 block of Greenleaf in Niles, was arrested and charged with retail theft after he stole food from a grocery store in the 1900 block of Dempster Street at 5:27 p.m. Monday, Sept. 9, according to police.

Adolfo Martinez Hernandez, 43, of the 1700 block of Dempster Street in Evanston, was arrested and charged with violating an order of protection at 11:52 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, according to police.

Graffiti Appears on Foster

Graffiti appeared in the 800 block of Foster Street between 10 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, and 4 a.m. Modnay, Sept. 9, according to police.
