Selfies Do In iPad Thief

An Evanston iPad thief’s eagerness to take selfies with the device enabled the victim to track it down.

The theft occurred last week, according to the Evanston Police Department’s “In the Squad Room” newsletter. Because no charges were filed, the thief’s name was not released.

The thief started using the iPad to take pictures of him or herself, apparently oblivious to the fact that the device was uploading the selfies via the cloud to the owner’s other Apple devices.

The thief was quickly identified and the iPad was returned.
