Volunteer To Shovel Snow For Your Elderly Or Disabled Neighbors

The City of Evanston is offering a community program to connect older adults and people with disabilities with willing volunteers.

EVANSTON, IL — The city of Evanston is looking for volunteers who are willing to help out older Evanstonians and residents with disabilities when it comes time to shovel snow.

Anyone who is seeking assistance or who would like to volunteer can sign up on the city's website for the 2025-26 winter season. The program is free, and no exchange of money or goods is permitted.

Residents who request assistance will be provided with a list of nearby volunteers, and will be responsible for making contact themselves. Volunteers must complete the work, or inform residents if they are unable to complete the work.

Prospective volunteers should fill out the Snow Shoveler Volunteer Intake Form or call/text 847-448-4311. Those seeking assistance can register by calling/texting 847-448-4311 or completing the Request for Snow Shoveling Assistance Form.
