EVERGREEN PARK, IL — The Evergreen Park 14U All Stars’ run came to an end Saturday afternoon in the Little League Junior Softball World Series. The 14U team lost the championship round against Columbus, Texas, 2-0.

Texas got off to a 2-run start in the first inning on a pair of singles, but that was all they needed. Evergreen Park could not get past Texas pitcher Paelyn Etzler, who mowed down 11 Evergreen Park batters.

Mackenzie Norbut and Sam Johnson got the only two hits of the game for Evergreen Park. Celia Chavez put a stop to a Texas rally with the game’s best defensive play, by making a diving catch in shallow right field.
