CHICAGO — 22nd District police are alerting residents to a string of armed robberies where sellers on Facebook Marketplace have been robbed at gunpoint in the Morgan Park area. At least six robberies have been reported this month.

Chicago police said that a man responded to Facebook Marketplace ads offering Nike or Jordan brand gym shoes offered for sale. During the arranged meetings, police said the man displayed a gun and robbed the victim of the shoes.

In two of the incidents, a second man stood by, pointing a gun at the unwitting seller. Police said the man used a Facebook account with the moniker “Serving Best Deals.”
