Former D231 Superintendent Tom O’Malley Returns As Interim Leader

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — The Evergreen Park Community High School Dist. 231 Board of Education has brought back Tom O’Malley to take over as interim leader. O’Malley retired as the district superintendent at the end of the 2023-2024 school year.

His return comes after the announcement that interim superintendent Dr. Michael Riordan had accepted the position as president of Marian Catholic High School in Chicago Heights.

“We'd like to thank Dr. Riordan for serving admirably during his time at EPCHS and wish him the best in his new role,” the board said in the high school’s newsletter.

O’Malley said he is back only on an interim basis as the board continues its search for a permanent superintendent.

“I am very excited to be back at a place I call home as the interim superintendent,” O’Malley said in an email.
