Gas Prices Update: Gas Surging Toward $6 In Evergreen Park

The average price of gas in Illinois was at about $5.54 per gallon Thursday, according to AAA. That's a 16 cent increase from last week and up a whopping 75 cents from a month ago.
The average in Cook County was above the state average Thursday, sitting at about $5.96 per gallon.

The cheapest gas Thursday in Cook County was at Walmart, 17540 S. Halsted St., Homewood, selling for $5.39.
In Illinois, the cheapest gas can be found 45 miles outside of Carbondale in El Dorado, at $4.69.

Rounding out the highest Top 5 states in gas price averages Thursday were California at $6.42, Nevada at $5.67, Washington at $5.55 and Oregon at $5.54, according to AAA. Georgia had the lowest national gas price average at around $4.49.
