Gas Prices Update: Prices Continue Downward Trend In Evergreen Park

Gas prices dropped the seventh consecutive week in and around Evergreen Park. Here's a look at where to find the cheapest gas around.

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — Evergreen Park residents continued to see lower prices at the pump for the seventh week in a row, as nearby stations stayed under the $5 per gallon mark for a second week in a row, according to GasBuddy.

Motorists will have to wait to see if the lower prices will continue long-term, but could be encouraged by the overall downward trend across the state and the nation. Experts predict that gas prices will break $3 in the fall,

In Illinois, the overall average dipped to $4.52, which is down 21 cents from this time last week and down a whopping 79 cents from a month ago, according to AAA.

The average in Cook County remained above the state average Monday, sitting at about $4.97 per gallon, according to AAA. Gas can be found well under $5 a gallon around Evergreen Park, if you know where to look.

The cheapest gas in Cook County Thursday was at VP Racing Fuels, 4401 St. Charles, Bellwood selling for $4.

Nationally, the average gas price Thursday was about $4.13 per gallon. It was $3.17 at this same point last year, according to AAA.

Illinois' gas prices ranked No. 7 in the lower 48 of the county. The Top 5 states in gas price averages Thursday were all out west, with California at $5.53, Nevada at $5.04, Oregon at $5.05, Washington at $4.85, Idaho at $4.85 and Utah at $4.77, according to AAA. Texas had the lowest national gas price average at $3.64.
