Market By Macy's, Macy's Backstage Set For Grand Opening In EP

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — Macy’s will open its first dual-store format, Market by Macy’s and Macy’s Backstage at Evergreen Plaza at 95th Street and Western Avenue this Friday, Oct. 2. The grand opening will be celebrated with customer giveaways and a ribbon cutting at 9:15 p.m. by Mayor Kelly Burke.

According to the Village of Evergreen Park Facebook page, gift cards will be given to the first 200 shoppers Friday, and the first 300 shoppers on Saturday, beginning at 10 a.m. both days. Be sure to also drop by the local coffee vendor inside the store.

Beginning at noon on Friday and Saturday, shoppers will get the chance to spin the wheel for Macy's prizes and giveaways, and visit some local food trucks.

On Saturday, a local radio station will be there with a live DJ along with raffles and giveaways from noon to 2 p.m.

Macy’s is taking another shot at brick-and-mortar by opening two of its smaller format, off-mall stores in the former Carson’s building in Evergreen Plaza. The 120,000-square-foot space has stood empty since Carson’s closed in 2020.

Shoppers can discover and shop for curated essentials at Market by Macy’s on the first floor, then hunt for bargains at Macy’s Backstage, on the second floor.

Market by Macy’s offers customers an immersive shopping experience, highlighted by the “Trend Pavilion,” featuring a constant flow of fashionable trends and new merchandise throughout the season that challengers shoppers to create their own style.

Macy’s debuted its first Market by Macy’s in February 2020 in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Evergreen Plaza is the first shopping center in the Chicago area to offer a dual Market by Macy’s and Macy’s Backstage. Other Market by Macy’s stores opened this fall in metro Atlanta and the greater St. Louis area. There are currently more than 300 Macy’s Backstage stores nationwide, and nine freestanding Macy’s Backstage locations.
