Mosquito Spraying Set For Thursday In Evergreen Park
The South Cook County Mosquito Abatement District will be out spraying for mosquitos Thursday, Aug. 14, in Evergreen Park.
EVERGREEN PARK, IL — The South Cook County Mosquito Abatement District will be out spraying Evergreen Park for mosquitoes Thursday, Aug. 14, due to the presence of the West Nile virus in the area. If the fogging is not completed on August 14, the work will be completed on Monday, August 18.
The yellow abatement trucks will be out spraying Evergreen Park between 8 p.m. and midnight.
Residents can do their part by eliminating even the smallest sources of standing water, such as sprinkling cans, wading pools, bird baths, planters, etc. Even removing a small amount of water can have a huge effect in controlling the mosquito population.

The spraying helps reduce the number of mosquitoes and protects the community from mosquito-borne illnesses.
If you have a pool or hot tub, keep it covered when not in use, since it is often a source of mosquitos carrying West Nile Virus.

The county uses EPA-registered pesticides that are applied using ultra-low volume sprayers that dispense small droplets. People with allergies are advised to stay indoors and keep their windows closed during spraying.
