Warming Centers Will Be Open In Evergreen Park During Big Chill

EVERGREEN PARK, IL — The National Weather Service has issued an elevated cold risk advisory throughout the week, with early morning subzero wind chills between 10 below and 25 below zero.

The frigid weather will arrive on Sunday night, with the coldest conditions continuing through Tuesday morning, the weather service said. A limited elevated cold risk is expected throughout the rest of the week. Snow is also expected Tuesday night into Wednesday.

Check on your elderly neighbors and if you see someone struggling in the cold on the street, call 911.

The following warming centers will be open in the Evergreen Park area if you need to get out of the cold, or just want to stop burning money in your furnace for a few hours. Monday, Feb. 17, is the federal Presidents Day holiday, so we recommend calling ahead to check to make sure they’re open.

Cook County Warming Centers

Cook County warming centers will provide water and snacks, as well as access to restrooms. Residents can bring pets in cages or carriers. If you do not have a cage or carrier, there will be a limited number available at each courthouse location. Some locations may be closed Monday for the federal Presidents Day holiday.
