CTA Shooting Victims Were Killed In Their Sleep: Forest Park Police
The Blue Line shooter walked up to each of the four sleeping victims and fired, according to Forest Park Deputy Chief Christopher Chin.

FOREST PARK, IL — All four people fatally shot early Labor Day morning on a CTA Blue Line train were asleep when they were killed, Forest Park police confirmed Tuesday.
The shooting was reported just before 5:30 a.m. Monday on a westbound train at the station in the 700 block of Desplaines Avenue, police said, noting three people died at the scene and a fourth was later pronounced at Loyola University Medical Center in Maywood.
Authorities announced Tuesday afternoon that Rhanni S. Davis was charged with four counts of first-degree murder.

Surveillance video showed the victims were sleeping in various areas of the train when the shooter walked up to each person and fired, according to Forest Park Deputy Chief Christopher Chin. The attacker did not interact with any of the victims immediately prior to the shooting, Chin said.
Those killed include a 52-year-old man, a 64-year-old woman and two other males, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

The victims did not appear to know one another, Chin said, noting three were in one car and a fourth was in an adjoining car. Police do not know if they were unhoused, according to Chin.
Authorities Monday were able to get a description of the shooter from video surveillance, and Chicago police found a person matching the description on a Pink Line train. The person was arrested and police recovered a firearm, officials said.
Detectives were working Tuesday with the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office to approve charges, according to Chin. A press conference that had been tentatively scheduled for 3 p.m. was postponed to 7 p.m. at Forest Park Village Hall, police announced mid-afternoon.
