• Local homelessness prevention work was threatened by restrictions on HUD grants (oakpark.com) — Residents in Forest Park are among more than two dozen west suburban communities that rely on Housing Forward’s federally funded homelessness programs, which recently faced major cuts under proposed HUD rule changes. After lawsuits from states including Illinois, federal officials now say they’ll abandon those restrictions, easing fears about losing permanent supportive housing that keeps vulnerable people, including those with disabilities and domestic violence survivors, stably housed.
