Former Frankfort Mayor, Retired Judge Dies

Former Mayor Ray Rossi, who served the Village from 1993 to 2005, died on June 25.

FRANKFORT, IL — Former Frankfort Mayor and retired Will County judge Raymond Rossi, 70, died on June 25.

The Village of Frankfort said Rossi served the community from 1993 to 2005.

"As a visionary leader, Mayor Rossi played a pivotal role in shaping Frankfort into the vibrant, thriving village it is today," the Village said.

Rossi spearheaded numerous initiatives during his tenure.

"His commitment to economic development, community engagement, and sustainable growth paved the way for countless improvements and opportunities for our residents," the Village said.

“Ray Rossi was a remarkable leader and a true pillar of our community," Mayor Keith Ogle said. "His vision and dedication helped shape Frankfort into the vibrant and welcoming place we all cherish today. Ray's commitment to public service and his genuine care for our residents set a standard that continues to inspire us. I cherished his friendship and he will be deeply missed, but his legacy will live on in the many positive changes he brought to our village. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family during this difficult time.”

Visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m. on June 30 at Kurtz Memorial Chapel, 65 Old Frankfort Way, in Frankfort. Funeral will be he held at 10 a.m. on July 1 at St. Anthony Catholic Church, 7659 W. Sauk Trail.
