Frankfort 157-C Board Brings on Fresh Accounting Program
Student achievement was recognized and awards were featured at the June 17 board of education meeting for Dist. 157-C.

Frankfort School Dist. 157-C board members at the regular meeting recognized recognized Hickory Creek Middle School Track Finalists. They included seventh graders Jillian Gosney, Brendan Morrissey, Greyson Cox, Juan Rodriguez and Ryan Scianna and eighth graders Sidney Bloomfield, Emily Scianna, Nicole Humenik, Ololade Ayoola, Ally Chavez, Moira Murphy and Lauren LaDere.
On June 17 Board President Chris McFadden recognized the Hickory Creek Middle School State Science Fair Winners. They included seventh graders Tanner Hurst who won the Silver Award and Victoria Kristoff, Isabella McKenna, Rachel Schilke and Sara Taylor who won the Gold Award. They also included eighth graders Ryan Braun and Jared Blair who won the Gold Award.

Asst. Supt. Curt Saindon updated the board with a treasurer's report. The district is in the process of implementing Skyward, a new financial, accounting, payroll and personnel software program and anticipates going live with it in July. Data conversion, set up, training and beta testing are occurring during the first half of 2013.
Supt. Tom Hurlburt said end-of-year enrollment in the district showed an increase of 57 students as compared with last year at this time. Prior to this year, the district was seeing enrollment decreases. He added that several annual scholarships and awards were presented during the eighth grade graduation ceremony.

The scholarships were awards:
- Jaycee Scholarship was presented to students Jack Ruiz and Quinn Ruiz.
- Viola Lankenau Award was presented to Caitlin Ferneau.
- Lyndsey Whittingham Foundation award was presented to Julia Chillon
Hurlburt also updated the Board on school attendance and in-school and out-of-school suspensions as highlighted on the District 157-C Dashboard. He also provided reports on the eighth grade students who received the President’s Education award and past 157-C students who recently graduated from Lincoln-Way East High School that earned awards.
