Frankfort Park District: Lakeview South Pond Update

This week staff was informed that at Lakeview South pond a significant amount of fish were found floating in the water.

FRANKFORT, IL — This week Frankfort Park District staff was informed that at Lakeview South pond a significant amount of fish were found floating in the water.

Park District staff have contacted a pond management firm to remove the fish and evaluate the water.

This pond is not chemically treated by the District. Staff is unsure what caused the die off.

Common issues that can result in fish kills are prolonged cloudy weather, drought conditions, overcrowded fish populations, excessive algal or other plant growths, and high water temperatures are the most common factors that combine to cause fish kills.
