Summit Hill Students Set To Make Sweet Music At District Festival
Students from Summit Hill Junior High are scheduled to participate Nov. 6 in the ILMEA District 1 Band, Chorus and Orchestra Festival.

FRANKFORT, IL — Four students at Summit Hill Junior High School in Frankfort have been selected to participate Nov. 6 in the Illinois Music Educators Association's District 1 Band, Chorus and Orchestra Festival to be held at Lincoln-Way Central High School in New Lenox, according to a news release sent by the school.
The selected students are: Ashley Hecker (orchestra) playing violin; Brendan Llanes (band) playing trumpet; Uzo Onyeobia (band) playing trumpet; and Rachel Sacks (band) playing flute, according to the release. Each is from Frankfort and in eighth grade at Summit Hill.
In addition, Onyeobia will be part of the ILMEA District 1 Jazz Festival Nov. 13 at Oak Lawn High School, according to the release.

"It is wonderful to see this fantastic festival return this year," said Summit Hill Junior High School Orchestra Director Katie Goddard. "This is Ashley's third year being able to participate, and as it's her final year, I am glad it will be back in person for her and the other students."
The ILMEA festivals are held in November each year across the state. Last year, students participated virtually because of the pandemic, but are back in person this year.

Summit Hill Junior High School has students from Frankfort, Mokena and Tinley Park.
