LW East Football Playoffs: Griffins Advance To Face Minooka

FRANKFORT, IL — Lincoln-Way East High School took care of business at home Saturday against Oswego East High School, where the Griffins allowed only one touchdown in the 23-6 victory.
Lincoln-Way East (8-2) is headed to the second round of the IHSA Class 8A playoffs where they will face off against Minooka High School (6-4) at 6 p.m. Saturday in Minooka, according to information on MaxPreps.
The Griffins defense stayed hot all night against the Wolves. The defense started out the scoring for the night on a safety in the first quarter, according to MaxPreps. The Griffins allowed only a single touchdown for the game, which came in the fourth quarter, according to MaxPreps.

Minooka, the No. 25 seed in the playoffs, managed to hold off York, the No. 9 seed, in its 16-13 win Friday, according to MaxPreps. Minooka was up 10-0 at halftime and held on as York tried to come back in the second half.
The winner of the Lincoln-Way East/Minooka game will face the winner of the Loyola Academy/Naperville Central game in the quarterfinals of the IHSA Class 8A playoffs. Loyola Academy (10-0) is the No. 1 ranked team in the state, while Naperville Central (7-3) is ranked No. 24, according to MaxPreps.
