Matteson Incident Leads To Multiple Vehicle Crash Near LW North

At least a dozen police units from nearby towns responded to the accident Monday near Harlem Avenue and Vollmer Road.

FRANKFORT, IL — A multiple vehicle accident Monday near Harlem Avenue and Vollmer Road was stemmed from an incident in Matteson, according to authorities. Police from Frankfort, Matteson, Richton Park and Tinley Park responded to the incident, and the crash briefly closed Harlem down a single lane.

The accident happened on the Matteson corner Harlem and Vollmer, near Tinley Park and Frankfort's closed Lincoln-Way North High School. Westbound Vollmer Road also was briefly closed. A wrecker was seen clearing a silver SUV from the scene.

At least a dozen police units were at the scene of the accident. Three ambulances and two fire trucks also responded. One of the ambulances left with a police escort.

A message about the incident to the Matteson Police department has not been returned.
