People of Different Faiths Gather As One In Frankfort Forum

Folks of different beliefs from all around the Southland gathered Monday to develop a deeper understanding of each others faiths.

Can’t we all just get along?

That’s more or less the idea behind the South West Interfaith Team (SWIFT) forum held Monday at Franciscan Sisters of the Sacred Heart in Frankfort.

Throughout the event, Jews, Christians and Muslims gathered to learn about the similarities among their respective beliefs and hear about "faiths respecting other faiths," the Chicago Tribune reports.

"We share a belief in God," speaker Rabbi Michael Balinsky told the Tribune. "We certainly share a belief in the principles of living …of having moral principles."

SWITF aims to encourage mutual respect and understanding among different religions. Currently, the organization is made up of 13 different south and southwest suburban mosques, synagogues and churche, including:
