Setting the Record Straight: Frankfort Girls Softball

Frankfort Girls Softball Commissioner Kristin Simon resigns.

Amid speculation that a former Frankfort Girls Softball commissioner had stolen money from the organization, board members released a statement to clarify the perceived misinformation.

In response to questions posed to FGS by Patch in regard to rumors of foul play by former Commissioner Kristin Simon, 39, of Frankfort, as it concerns the refund of membership fees due to families that perform a variety of tasks that keep the organization functioning, including coaching, the board issued the following statement:

The FGS did conduct an investigation of its volunteer redemptions history, and while we were prepared to defend our membership from any foul play, we found none. Several factors contributing to the difference in funds paid annually were decrease in registrations, fewer volunteer redemption dates offered, and the reduction in the volunteer redemption fee from one per player to one per family.

Had FGS found any foul play or had any reason to investigate the matter further, we would have brought the case to the highest level possible. We owe that to our membership.

Furthermore, Kristin Simon resigned (earlier this month) from the Board for personal reasons.

Lastly, our President (Keith Revak) has not resigned and still runs the fastest growing Recreational Softball Leagues in the area.

Board member Colin Walsh said he is looking to set the record straight. "All the money has been accounted for. We investigated it ourselves. We looked at it very closely, checking signatures. We found no merit (to the allegations,)" he said.

Simon, the former head of Shimmering View Homeowners Association, had previously been She accepted a plea deal in July 2012, Will County court records state.

For that conviction, she was sentenced to serve 180 days in jail.
