Some Street Resurfacing Plans In Frankfort Pushed To 2023: Village
A recent strike affecting material for roadwork projects has ended, but it will take time to catch up on projects that were delayed.
FRANKFORT, IL — The Village of Frankfort is advising residents that some planned street resurfacing projects will "begin a little later than planned," and some projects will be shelved until 2023.
The company contracted by the Village to do the street resurfacing, PT Ferro, said it will take two weeks to restock their materials before it can begin paving, according to the Village. However, curb and sidewalk removal began Wednesday.
Some planned street surfacing will still begin late in the construction season, if weather allows. Only projects that can be completed before the weather turns too cold will be started, according to the Village. Whichever projects still remain to be started will have to wait until spring 2023.

A labor strike by members of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 150 — who work at about 35 quarries and other facilities operated by the companies Lafarge Holcim, Lehigh Hanson and Vulcan Materials — began nearly two months ago, but was finally resolved Monday.
Those companies produce aggregate, which is a term for materials including sand, gravel and crushed stone used in the production of asphalt and concrete. The labor strike caused a lack of those materials, which triggered slowdowns or delays of summer construction across the Chicago area.
