Tornado Confirmed In Frankfort From Monday Night Storms
The weather service has rated the tornado an EF-2.
FRANKFORT, IL — The National Weather Service has confirmed that a path of tornado damage was found in Frankfort.
The weather service said a survey crew found a damage path from Channahon to Matteson.
The weather service originally classified the tornado as an EF-1, but changed it to an EF-2 after surveying more damage on Wednesday.

The tornado started in Channahon at the Illinois River, and traveled through Elwood, Manhattan, and into Frankfort. It continued to travel east, crossing over Jackson Creek Preserve, Route 45, and northeast up to Route 30.
The weather service said the tornado was on the ground from 9:17 to 9:40 p.m., and rated it an EF-2. Peak winds were 120 mph, and the tornado's path traveled 28.9 miles. One person was injured, according to the weather service.

As of 5 p.m. Wednesday, 44,315 customers are still without power, according to the ComEd outage map. 112 customers are without power in Frankfort, 73 in Frankfort Square and 149 in Frankfort Township.
