Water Tower, Wells Improvements Cost Frankfort $5.1 Million

Village trustees approved the purchase of a 2.2-acre plot from the Frankfort Fire Protection District to build a $2.6 million water tower, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Frankfort Village Trustees voted 5-0 to authorize a $2.6 million water tower project planned for a 2.2-acre site at 80th Avenue and Steger Road. The vacant plot is just north of Fire Station No. 4.

Authorization was given at the April 29 board meeting, where trustees approved the fiscal budget.  The vacant plot was purchased from the Frankfort Fire Protection District for $75,000 up front and credits worth as much as $75,000 over 15 years.

"The new wells and tower will help the water department maintain standards for capacity and pressure as Frankfort grows," according to the Chicago Tribune.
