Will County Committee Supports Concealed Carry Law

A Will County Board committee approved a resolution endorsing concealed carry in Illinois in a 4-1 vote, Sun-Times Media reports.

Supporters claim the committee’s vote will send a message to Springfield as they work on drafting a new conceal carry law to meet a June 9 court deadline.

Sheriff Paul Kaupas says he supports concealed carry “with limitations,” including background checks and classroom instruction on gun safety.

“Forty-nine states have it,” he said. “Illinois doesn’t. And I can safely say the 49 states that have it have a lot less problems than Illinois does.”

The advisory resolution will now move to the full board for a March 21 vote.
