Dodson Street To Close For Water Service Lines Replacement
A block of Dodson Street will close twice to make way for crews to replace a lead water service line.
GENEVA, IL — Lead water service lines in the 400 block of Dodson Street will be replaced Wednesday and Thursday, Geneva officials said.
The road will be shut down from School to Woodlawn streets at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday so crews can prepare the street for construction. The block will be reopened by the end of the business day Tuesday and will have heavy metal plates covering holes on the street, according to an alert.
The same area will close again at 7:15 a.m. Sept. 5 while the water service lines are replaced. City officials said the project should be completed before Harrison Street School students are dismissed.

School, Jefferson and Woodlawn streets as well as Dodson Street east of Woodlawn Street will be open during construction. Officials encourage parents to allow for extra travel time or consider alternative routes to and from the school over the two days.
The construction schedule is weather-dependent and subject to change, officials said.
