Drive-Thru BBQ To Support United Way Coronavirus Relief Fund
The Fox Valley United Way is set to host a barbecue fundraiser Tuesday evening at the Kane County Cougars' field in Geneva.
GENEVA, IL — The Fox Valley United Way is pressing on in its campaign to raise $600,000 to support local organizations working to help those whose lives have been upended by the coronavirus pandemic. A drive-thru barbecue fundraiser Tuesday evening in Geneva is set to push the Fox Valley Coronavirus Relief and Recovery Fund past 75 percent of its goal.
The Kane County Cougars will host the event from 5-7 p.m. Tuesday at Northwestern Medical Field. Families can purchase dinners for $15 each and choose from barbecue pork, chicken or a combination. Kids hot dog meals will be on sale for $5 each.

Residents can also purchase dinners to be donated to the fire and police departments in Geneva and St. Charles. Meals will be provided by 5-B’s Catering Service.

As of Thursday evening, the Fund has raised nearly $446,000 toward its $600,000 goal. Officials from the Fox Valley United Way said Illinois’ move to phase 4 of its reopening plan has raised new challenges for nonprofit organizations working to support residents.
“The demand for assistance is significantly greater today than it was a month ago,” the organization’s website reads.
