Geneva Fire Department Rappelling Training Planned At Parking Deck

GENEVA, IL — Geneva firefighters are planning several rappelling training exercises in September, officials said.

The first training took place at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 3. The next will happen at 9 a.m. Sept. 10, and the final one will planned for 1:30 p.m. Sept. 17.

The training will occur at the Third Street Commuter Parking Deck in the downtown area. Each session will last several hours, according to an alert.

The parking deck will remain open to commuters and downtown drivers as normal during the training. Officials said the public should not be alarmed due to the increased personnel.
