Geneva Police To Take Part In Chicago Duck Derby For Special Olympics

Geneva residents can buy rubber ducks that will then hit the water during Chicago's Duck Derby on the Chicago River.

GENEVA, IL — Geneva police will participate in Chicago's Duck Derby Aug. 7 to raise money for Special Olympics Illinois.

"After rescuing baby ducks twice earlier this year, Geneva Police are hoping to make a different kind of splash" with the derby, officials said in a news release.

Geneva residents can take part in the fundraiser by buying rubber ducks that will land in the Chicago River for the race, which starts at 1 p.m by the Columbus Drive Bridge. Money raised from duck sales will benefit Special Olympics Illinois.

Winners of the derby will be eligible for several prizes.

The Duck Derby is one of several fundraising events for the Law Enforcement Torch Run, a collaborative effort between police departments across the nation to raise money for Special Olympics.
