Route 31 ADA Improvements In Geneva To Resume After Labor Day
The Illinois Department of Transportation plans to finish its sidewalk improvement project in Geneva after the Labor Day weekend.
GENEVA, IL — Accessibility improvements on Route 31 in Geneva will be resumed after Labor Day weekend, officials said.
The Illinois Department of Transportation is helming the sidewalk improvement project, which began in fall 2023. Upcoming plans include reinstalling the crosswalk previously removed at the Peyton Street intersection and completing landscaping at several intersections.
The following sidewalks are being worked on as part of the project.

- Peyton Street (crosswalk removed but set to be reinstalled)
- Hamilton Street (including removal of sidewalk crossing)
- State Street (Route 38)

- Franklin Street (including removal of sidewalk crossing)
- Third Street

IDOT is managing the project and decided which sidewalk crossings to remove, Geneva officials noted, saying they do not have jurisdiction over the matter since Route 31 is a state highway.
