GENEVA, IL — Union Pacific is eyeing a reopening date for the Route 31 underpass in Geneva.

Weather permitting, the underpass is set to reopen Aug. 16, the city said in a Friday update. The area closed in March and was first scheduled to be completed earlier this summer but utility relocations caused delays, Patch reported.

The closure is the second of two to make way for Union Pacific to build a third railroad line near the current UP-West railway tracks spanning from Peck Road in Geneva to West Chicago.
